692 Dining Table

1958

The model 692 dining table was introduced in 1958 as part of the Indoor-Outdoor Group—a system of chairs and tables originally intended, as the name suggests, for use both indoors and outside. Rechristened the following year as the Eames Aluminum Group, these designs ultimately withstood the test of time thanks to their successful adaptation from domestic applications to offices and workplaces. The defining characteristic of the tables in the collection come from the element they share with the chairs: a sturdy four-pronged, cast-aluminum pedestal base terminating in cylindrical feet housing nylon glides. This extremely rare early example features an opaque white scientific-grade German glass tabletop.
