Special Use Table

This table, which is tall but relatively small in terms of its surface area, is one of the earliest tables the Eameses made from aluminum. It may have been created as a prototype that was not ultimately carried forward into production, or it could have been put together for special use in their office at 901 Washington in Venice Beach, California. The table’s base is a four-blade pedestal that was originally made for the designers’ molded fiberglass and wire shell chairs. A few years later, in 1956, the same base design was used for the ottoman that accompanies the Eames Lounge Chair.
